The objective of the Deutschsprachigen Medizinischen Gesellschaft für Paraplegiologie [German Medical Society for Paraplegiology] (DMGP) is the dissemination of knowledge about the comprehensive rehabilitation of paraplegics.
- The DMGP also organises regular conferences on current topics as well as congresses and both organises and participates in advanced training events.
- Furthermore, the DMGP creates guidelines, which it distributes along with congress transcripts and its own information sheets.
- A further task is that of drafting specific curricula relating to paraplegia for further training and certification in specialist advanced training courses.
Unlike other associations in this field, especially international associations, value was placed from the very beginnings on collaboration based on partnerships across professional groups involved in the treatment and rehabilitation of paraplegic patients, with these partnerships organised from within the Association into working groups.
