The objective of the Interdisziplinären Gesellschaft für orthopädische/unfallchirurgische und allgemeine Schmerztherapie [Interdisciplinary Society for Orthopaedic/Trauma Surgery and General Pain Therapy] (IGOST) is to promote scientific findings in this field, and implement these findings into qualitative care for our patients.
The main task aside from evidence-based treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain is early detection of any chronic signs during initial treatment. As managers of an integrated care system, early detection allows practice orthopaedists to implement the correct treatment concept from the outset, in order to prevent progression of any threatening chronic signs.
