The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Orthopädische Rheumatologie [German Society for Orthopaedic Rheumatology] (DGORh) is an independent, special section of the DGOU and DGOOC. It is responsible for all aspects relating to orthopaedic rheumatology. It acts as the point of contact for all institutions which require information or are looking to form partnerships in this working area.
From within the medical/orthopaedic and rheumatological professional societies, this section works in the area of orthopaedic rheumatology in various different commissions and committees. It coordinates the points of contact between the DGOOC and internist rheumatology.
Orthopaedic rheumatology deals with the treatment of the symptomatic consequences that rheumatic diseases have on the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic rheumatology considers its role to be as part of an interdisciplinary team, with many other parties involved aside from the actively involved patients, such as internist rheumatologists, psychologists, community doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, orthopaedic technicians, patient associations, and relatives of patients, amongst others.
