The Gesellschaft für Extremitätenverlängerung und -rekonstruktion [Society for Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction] is concerned with the use and further development of ring-fixators, which were invented by Gavril Abramovich Ilizarov. The ring fixator is used with great success, particularly in the reconstruction of extremities. Techniques and procedures have been significantly modified and developed further in the past few years, allowing for their scope of application to be adapted and expanded.
