The objective of the Sektion Knochen- und Weichteilinfektionen [Section for Infections of the Bone and Soft Tissue] of the DGOU is to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the issue of musculoskeletal infections. From the many emerging issues to choose from, the Section has committed itself to the following four urgent areas:
- Education and advanced training
- Promotion of young talents
- Creation of special curricula
- Organization of advanced training and further education events
- Cooperation with other professional societies
- Maintaining and developing the existing partnerships dating back to the Septic Surgery Working Group of the German Trauma Society.
- Forming of new partnerships
- Representation with respect to professional policies relating to the field of bone and soft tissue infections
- Compiling of scientific approaches to given topics
