Basic research

Focus

The Grundlagenforschung in Unfallchirurgie und Orthopädie [Section for Basic Research in Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedics] was successfully merged with the Section for Basic Research of the DGOU at the German Congress for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery (DKOU) in 2010, and allows for interdisciplinary cooperation in all relevant fields.

The overarching objective of this Section is to define mutual content relating to research policy through close cooperation with the committees and groups of the DGOU, DGU and DGOOC, to then be able to promote this policy in a very coherent way. To achieve this, working out clearly defined scientific goals supported by all involved in of great importance.

The content of the Section’s work takes place predominantly through its networks:

  • through the network of musculoskeletal regeneration (MR-Net);
  • through the network of muculoskeletal biomechanics (MSB-Net); and
  • the Trauma-Research Network (NTF).

Through closer cooperation between researchers with backgrounds in trauma surgery and/or orthopaedics, joint research efforts can be established and, through this, research can be enhanced.
