The EFORT Council sees the coming together of the professional societies German Society for Orthopaedics and Trauma (DGOU), German Society for Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery (DGOOC), the German Trauma Society (DGU) and the Professional Association for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery (BVOU) all on an equal footing.
The objective of this unified council is to bring together scientific, political and care-relevant aspects of orthopaedics and trauma surgery into a unified and coherent whole on a European level, and to influence decision-making within and concerning the EFORT Council. In this regard, two respective representatives from the organisations cast votes in the run up to the annual Congress of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT), the European umbrella association of the O&U. The EFORT Council is associated with the Department of International Affairs of the German Society for Orthopaedics and Trauma (DGOU).
