International cooperation

The German Society for Orthopaedics and Trauma (DGOU) also cooperates with numerous international partners in the field of orthopaedics and trauma surgery. 


The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Trauma (EFORT) works on behalf of the European orthopaedic and traumatology community to restore and secure mobility, musculoskeletal health and quality of life.

The European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES) was founded 2007 in Graz following the merging of EATES (European Association for Trauma & Emergency Surgery) and ETS (European Trauma Society) and is registered in Brussels 2007.

SICOT is an international non-profit association incorporated under Belgian law with the aim of advancing the science and art of orthopaedics and traumatology at an international level and fostering and developing teaching, research and education.

The World Orthopaedic Alliance (WOA) is an international non-profit association dedicated to the advancement of high-quality and cost-effective musculoskeletal care in developing countries.

The authorities of the German Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery Congress (DKOU) have been inviting guest countries every year since 2010. These are represented at the congress, along with their specialised societies and a varied programme of events.
