The Academy of German Orthopaedic Surgeons (ADO) offers qualified advanced education and specialisation in the field of orthopaedics and trauma surgery and in associated fields. This includes, in particular, the implementation, organisation, coordination, and evaluation of scientific events.

The Academy for Trauma Surgery (AUC) offers a comprehensive advanced training and specialisation programme in the fields of orthopaedics and trauma surgery at the request of the German Society for Trauma Surgery. It also coordinates the TraumaNetzwerk DGU®, the TraumaRegister DGU® as well as the Telekooperation TKmed®.

The Professional Association of German Surgeons (BDC) represents the professional interests of German surgeons regarding clinics and private practices in politics, both with the authorities and local administrations and in public. It is committed to high quality in surgical advanced training and specialization and offers a comprehensive seminar programme for surgeons through its academy.

The interdisciplinary „Bone and Joint Decade 2010-2020”, in cooperation with the German network, represents a global effort to illustrate the relevance of diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal organs for the individual and for health and social systems. It is the goal to prevent disease and improve the life quality of the patients by promoting research funding and improved patient care.

The Professional Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (BVOU) represents the professional interests of more than 7 000 colleagues working in private practices and clinics. The BVOU promotes the professional interests of its members by developing standards for orthopaedic and trauma surgery care and taking influence via the political and economic framework to shape the public perception of its members as experts in orthopaedic and trauma surgery care.

The German Society for Surgery (DGCH) currently has 6 600 members and was established in Berlin in 1872. It is therefore one of the oldest medical-scientific specialist societies. The purpose of this society is, according to its statutes, „the promotion of scientific and practical aspects of surgery in general”. 

The Association for Chief Consultants in Orthopedics and Trauma (VLOU) is a registered association with the purpose of promoting scientific and practical aspects in the field of orthopaedics and trauma surgery and of promoting and maintaining capable orthopaedics and trauma surgery services and the necessary conventional and surgical facilities.
